Future of Cyber Security Jobs: Learning from Artificial Intelligence

Hello guys! Today, we’re going to talk about something really cool and futuristic. We’re going to see how we can use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to better understand what you might need to learn for a cyber security job in 2024!

How did we do it?

I started by looking through 100 different jobs on a website called Indeed. These jobs were all about cyber security and could be done from home (also known as ‘remote work’). After gathering all the job descriptions, I fed them into an AI program called Chat GPT.

I asked Chat GPT to give me the top 10 technologies, skills, certifications, and educational requirements for these future cyber security jobs. I also asked about important industry frameworks and regulations, as well as any extra tips to make a strong job application. Let’s find out what I learned!

Key Learning:

Are you excited to learn what jobs in cyber security might look like in 2024? Great! Here are some points I found out from the AI:

  • Technologies: We discovered that things like Sim (Security Information Management), a virtual firewall, and Cloud Security Solutions are important to know.
  • Skills: The AI suggested it is vital to know about incident response (how to respond when an incident occurs), risk management (how to handle risks), network security (how to protect computer networks), and more.
  • Certifications: You might wonder, what is a certification? It’s a formal recognition by a professional organization that someone has achieved a certain level of skills or knowledge. The AI found CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) and Security+ were among the most important for this field. Check out the video below for the Top 10 CyberSecurity Certs!
  • Education: Having a Bachelor’s degree seems to be a plus, but don’t worry! Not having one doesn’t mean you can’t work in cybersecurity. Different people have different paths to the same destination.
  • Frameworks and Regulations: These are like the rule books of cybersecurity. It is important to understand them. Some of the main ones to know are NIST CSF (National Institute of Standards and Technology Cybersecurity Framework), GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard), and HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act).

Conclusion:

Isn’t it amazing how much we can learn from AI? By feeding it with real-world job postings, it’s given us a glimpse into the future. Remember, the goal is not to try and learn everything immediately but to be aware of what’s out there, and slowly build up your skills and knowledge in areas that interest you. Whether you’re dreaming of a career in cyber security, or just exploring, I hope you found this insight informative and inspiring!
